| Meet the DJs of Tribal Smile Radio |
Groovy! Like any good college radio station, Tribal Smile Radio is hosted by a charmingly strange assortment of DJs, beamed in around the clock from all corners of the cosmos. They introduce the songs, read the news, share the birthday wishes, and occasionally forget which knob does what. Say hello to the crew! Sixteen of them are listed below in alphabetical order, which they insisted on, mostly to avoid an argument about who's the most important. (It's the Spatial Anomaly. Don't tell the others.) |
![]() Burst Polyp Burst Polyp hails from the coral reefs of Tentaculon IV and specializes in wildly enthusiastic introductions, once described by The Reef Report as "contagiously over-caffeinated." Every tentacle glows when he gets excited, which is always. |
![]() Carlyle Bligh Carlyle Bligh hails from a velvet armchair in the Andromeda suburbs and specializes in sounds that will lull you to sleep on the highway (please pull over first). Monocle polished, cocoa in hand, he has never once raised his voice. |
![]() Chigger Dixon Chigger Dixon hails from a truck stop just beyond midnight and specializes in diesel ballads, once described by The Highway Listener as "emotionally double-clutched." Breaker breaker, good buddy. Keep it between the asteroids. |
![]() Danny Mothra Danny Mothra insists the night sounds better at slightly unreasonable volumes. He hosts in his favorite bathrobe with a mug of galaxy-roast coffee, and he has never met a birthday he wouldn't announce on the air. |
![]() Eddie Gold Obvious Eddie Gold Obvious hails from a lounge behind a velvet curtain and specializes in self-evident jazz, once described by The Obvious Times as "predictably surprising." His friends call him E-G-O, which surprises no one. |
![]() Freddie Harmonious Freddie Harmonious believes harmony is best served slightly off-center. A proud graduate of Galaxio University (major: vibes, minor: more vibes), he founded the Four F Club and still won't say what the F's stand for. |
![]() Gary Hurglewitz Gary Hurglewitz reminds listeners that timing is everything, especially now. The station's resident sage has been spinning records since before there were records, and he once interviewed the galaxy's only Metaphysiboogiologist. |
![]() Jackie Pepper Jackie Pepper hails from a dimly lit lounge on the far side of the moon and specializes in velvet introductions. Leader of the Lounge Singers Deluxe, she never wears headphones. The music simply finds her. |
![]() Jonny Socko Jonny Socko claims he once cued a record using only intuition and a sandwich. Famous for his wink, his finger guns and his occasional reappearance in the physical world. He didn't mean to scare you there. |
![]() Mort Driftwood Mort Driftwood took a wrong turn somewhere near Saturn and has been looking for the exit ever since. He's not quite sure which knob does what, but every one of them lights up beautifully. |
![]() Oliver Middlebrook Oliver Middlebrook prefers his playlists like his tea: layered and slightly mysterious. He has worked the overnight shift for as long as anyone can remember, powered by a tower of coffee cups and the faint hope of finally landing. |
![]() Spanky Bottoms Spanky Bottoms maintains that every great song begins with a confident shrug. Pinstriped, distinguished and armed with a fountain pen, he is the only DJ ever asked to autograph a moon. |
![]() Stella Dispatch Stella Dispatch reads the news from low orbit and specializes in breaking stories that haven't happened yet, once described by The Stellar Observer as "suspiciously well informed." If Caller Number 42 ever gets through, she'll know first. |
![]() The Sonic Enchantress The Sonic Enchantress hails from a nebula that hums in perfect fifths. Nobody has ever seen her arrive or leave. She simply appears at the shift change, and the whole station gets a little dreamier. |
![]() The Spatial Anomaly The Spatial Anomaly is less a DJ than a polite wrinkle in spacetime that learned to use a microphone. It greets the travellers of Earth from everywhere at once, and yes, those little planets are real. |
![]() Vinnie Stardust Vinnie Stardust hails from the Las Vegas of the Crab Nebula and specializes in showmanship of the highest wattage. Ladies and gentlemen, he'd like to introduce Space Ferns. Frankly, he'd like to introduce everything. |
| The Tribal Smile Radio Request Line |
|
Wow! Want to request a song, enter one of our fabulous contests, or chat with your favorite DJ while the next tune is playing? Our lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365.25 days a year! Simply reach the studio using the Intergalactic Request Protocol (IRP-42):
Please note: human technology has not quite caught up with IRP-42 yet. Our engineers in the Space Basement are working on it, right after they find out who left the toaster set to 7.83 Hz. In the meantime, keep listening. Chances are, the DJs already know what you want to hear. |
